+ Little Miss Flint Clean Water Fund
My name is Mari Copeny, I’m from Flint, Michigan. You may know me as Little Miss Flint. I have been fighting to ensure my community has access to clean safe water since I was 8-years-old. Ever since April 2014, Flint has been faced with a lead crisis that we are still recovering from.
Our mission is to provide a support system for those who have been affected by incarceration, to eliminate the school-to-prison pipeline, and to act as a voice for those who feel silenced by their trauma.
Patrice’s Kids educates adults on the prevention of child abuse and holds special events to benefit children in foster care. This non-profit is centered around protecting and empowering kids.
Black Voters Matter goal is to increase power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. Effective voting allows a community to determine its own destiny. We agree with the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he said, “Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”
In 1968, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and many others called for a “revolution of values” in America. They sought to build a broad, fusion movement that could unite poor and impacted communities across the country. Their name was a direct cry from the underside of history: The Poor People’s Campaign.
